My Devotion To The Lord

Whenever I visit Chennai in the November month, The reason is obviously because of Deepavali. Deepavali or Diwali is a Hindu Festival in which people celebrate the story of Ramayana, in which Rama, the form of Mahavishnu, defeats the Lanka Demon King Ravana. At about 4:00 in the morning, they start setting fireworks all over Chennai. There would be over 1000 fireworks set off in Chennai if there were a count! The people dress up traditionally, for example, Dhoti, Sari, etc. At about 7:00-10:00 am the cultural streets of Mylapore would be overflowing. Especially, the temples would start their celebrations. The Kapaleeswarar temple at Mylapore isn't a Vishnu temple, but they also take Deepavali seriously. Special Poojas (Rituals) would be conducted in the temple, and families would offer sweets to the god for good luck. There are many Sabhas  in Chennai which have culture and devotion, but as important as entertainment, some good food is also important! I will be telling various Sabhas with eatery spots near them. These should be visited by all travellers who go to Chennai. For those who are confused with the word Sabha , it just means a concert hall, in this case a South Indian one. The first Sabha that I am going to talk about is the Narada Gana Sabha Trust . The Narada Gana Sabha or Sathguru Gnananantha Hall , is a famous Sabha, known for its drama shows, Harikathas ( stories of Vishnu ), and Carnatic music concerts. Note:( This Sabha has A/C but you cannot bring food from the Eatery spot). The eatery spot in this Sabha is actually a part of it! It is known as Woodlands . Woodlands is a famous South Indian Restaurant known for its tasty Sambar! The Woodlands in This Sabha is outdoors and has only 8-12 Four-seated tables. The Thiruvallikeni  area in Chennai is known for its cultural feel. The Parthasarathy Temple  in Triplicane has a history of numerous years. This is my most favourite temple! I was growing up in the Chennai area and visit it often these years.    Geethacharyan  is the name of Venkatakrishnan , the presiding deity in the temple. I have been to the Triplicane temple many times and have never regretted going there. The main idol is Venkatakrishnan, the charioteer of Arjuna in the kurukshethra war, in the story of Mahabharatha . He is depicted with a white mustache, which isn't common in other vishnu temples. The three idols in the main sanctum as to my knowledge are Rukmani thayar, Venkatakrishnan, and his brothers, including Balrama . Parthasarathy is the word for charioteer. I am currently in Trichy, and I will be blogging my trips today and two specialities about all the temples. First I visited the Amma Mandapam  which was about 2 mins from our house, and I dipped my foot inside and got a Divine blessing. The Amma Mandapam is a holy place where Sri Ranganathaswamy and other people can cleanse and take bath. Till this day the Elephants bathe at Amma Mandapam, and utsavar is occasionally dipped in the water. Today was a special day, Pournami , the day of the full moon. Rituals were happening inside. I couldn't take any photos as I was going to dip in the river so I left my phone home. Then, when I went home, I did a quick doodle of the Trichy Malaikottai .     (My drawing of Malaikottai) Then, In the evening, I travelled to Thiruvellarai  to see Pundarikaksha Perumal , The temple felt peaceful and calm, and felt like the Srirangam temple . We had to go to the inner prakaram  and climb about 20 steps to see perumal. ...

Hello! I will be blogging my trip to Trichy! We will be seeing a lot of temples and forts on the way! The first monument that I saw was a fort, the Rayakottai Fort , as my starting point was the Krishnagiri District . The fort is one of the lesser known forts of Tippu Sultan , and British officers and generals used the fort as a stronghold from the Carnatic wars . I took a snap of the fort as presented     (The Rayakottai Fort  is presented in my picture) After some 2 hours or so we reached salem, at the Radisson blu  hotel to eat lunch. Perumal , or Vishnu , is a Hindu God , who is known as the protector , in the last blog, I told about the temples in Trichy . In this blog, I will be telling the Vishnu temples that you can visit in Salem and Namakkal! Bring your children to all spots!! SALEM 1.Ramanuja temple, Salem. The Ramanuja Mandapam  or temple is a very peaceful place with spots for meditation. I suggest bringing children for company as there is an elephant-themed  playground. This temple is devoted to the Sri-Vaishnavite guru Ramanujacharya , who was a devout follower of Perumal . His death place was in the Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam , which is the theme of this temple in Salem.
